Traffic & Roads
For years the community has asked city government to deal with the sorry state of our streets and worsening traffic congestion. For years these problems have not been solved. We need a council that identifies actual solutions to old problems and is willing to act aggressively to solve them.
Traffic and road conditions are extremely important to residents. A new cross-town connector may become a reality at some point in the future, but we can no longer wait for that to happen. We must commit to decreasing traffic congestion via better traffic engineering and reducing automobile trips. We need to make street repair a funding priority.
At present our streets are not safe. We must make certain that our children can get to school and recreational activities safely. Pedestrians should be able to cross the street without fear of being hit by a car. By adding and improving bike lanes, cyclists will be able to engage in a healthy activity and make a personal contribution to addressing the climate emergency without worry for their safety.
